MY STYLE!!!

I absolutely love clothes, shoes, bags and accessories! I bet you're thinking, duh...which girl doesn't?! Fair enough! There's a world of difference between the ability to buy these items and actually being able to put them together! That's where my blog comes in, I love to put these items together, using colours, textures and patterns to create masterpieces. I do not believe that the cost of an item determines the success of it's appearance. My opinion is that it REALLY is the WAY in which you put it together, so check out how I do it, there's no harm in looking...whatever your opinion I'll be thoroughly enjoying myself putting each piece together.

FLOWER POWER.

1. STRAPLESS FLORAL DRESS

Floral patterns are great for creating fun, feminine, whimsical looks. I would recommend some caution with floral patterns though, because whilst they certainly can work together with other patterns, making that happen in an aesthetically pleasing fashion can be tricky.

2. DENIM JACKET

A "must-have" piece of outerwear in my wardrobe. There are endless variations of denim jackets out there. This particular one from Express resembles a biker jacket with a button at the neck and zips at the wrist area making it easy to unzip and fold up the sleeveless if one wanted to.

3. PASHMINA

I purchased this particular one, along with a baby blue one in Cape Town, South Africa.  The history behind how this extremely useful accessory came about is quite interesting, have a read: About the Pashmina

4. BLACK STOCKINGS

Ideally I would not have included these with this outfit, however my fashion sense constitutes common sense and it was COLD outside :)

5. WEDGES

I received this pair of bright yellow wedges as a gift at some point. The colour makes them great for summer and they're comfy too.

6. WHIMSICAL EARRINGS

These earrings remind me of the book, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by Shakespeare. One half expects that a fairy will fly from them whilst they're on your ears.
7. GOLD PURSE

Another thrift store acquisition. This purse is predominately made of sisal, a natural fiber made from agave plants. A bonus for the environment!

DASH OF RED!

A little something to welcome the weekend:

1. ANIMAL PRINT DRESS

2. RED BLAZER

Blazers are an asset to any wardrobe and can be worn equally as well formally or casually. I love the pin-stripe lining of this blazer, as it brings added character to the blazer when the sleeves are rolled up.

3. BLACK PEEP TOES

This suede/studded pair of peep toes by Christian Siriano for Payless is currently on sale for US$11.00: a steal! The medium 3.5" heel means you can stand, walk and dance the night away comfortably ALL NIGHT LONG!

4. BIG BLACK CLUTCH

This suede, black clutch with imitation leather ruffle by BAKERS is GREAT for an evening out, with enough room for a light jacket or sweater, camera, cosmetic bag, mobile phone...you know what I mean...it's nice and roomy!

5. SPIDERWEB NECKLACE

6. RED EARRINGS

7. Coach Boyfriend Watch

The signature strap complimented by the gold shimmer accents on this COACH watch come across as feminine to me and thus balance out the sizable "boyfriend" style face.

8. OWL RING

This ring sits on one's finger as if it were a pet bird. It has a vintage feel to it, I wear it often.

EARTH ANGEL.

Earthy tones don't have to be boring.

1. TARTAN SCARF
Patterned scarves are a great accessory to spice up even the most dull outfit.

2. BLACK LONG-SLEEVED TOP

Second time's a charm! I did say you'd see this again.

3. BROWN HOUNDSTOOTH CAPRI COAT
There is so much detail packed into this one little coat and it's fantastic! The houndstooth style pattern of the fabric, big buttons, flared sleeves and hem, big, round, floppy collar and pleats. Very feminine: KOHL'S

4. JEGGING/SWEAT PANT STYLE
Jeggings just became that much more comfortable, in that sweat pants style fabric: Miley Cyrus

5. BROWN RUFFLED ANKLE BOOTIES

Forever21

6. GOLD FLOWER STYLE EARRINGS

7. DKNY LARGE SIGNATURE LOGO BAG TOWN & COUNTRY

Satchel style purses are great for compartmentalising all your stuff, making it easier to locate and patterns when done right are extremely asthetically pleasing.

DARK STRIPES.

I had a meeting today, semi-casual dress in a formal setting.  So a half and half situation.  This is what I came up with.

1. LONG STRIPED DRESS
I purchased this from Forever21 as part of their Heritage 1981 collection.

2. THE LITTLE BLACK SWEATER
5.7.9 purchase, works really well with a variety of belts.

3. THICK STRETCH BELT WITH MIDDLE DETAIL

Another Forever21 purchase, a great resource for all kinds of accessories.

4. BLACK STOCKINGS

Needless to say this item of clothing can be  EXTREMELY handy: for added warmth, to dress up an outfit, add a touch of class by hiding skin and creating a funky pop/rock look. Also, this item is small enough to roll into a ball and place in even a small purse if the weather changes and you get a little hot.

5. BLACK PLAID FLATS WITH BOWS

The bows MAKE this pair of otherwise simple Black flats, a  product of Bakers Shoes. Extremely comfortable!

6. BIG BLACK PURSE
This is a Mulberry for Target purse available at Target stores.  I stumbled upon it at City Square Thrift Store, another bargain!  Big purses are a great accessory, although you don't always necessarily want to haul stuff around in them to give them the full appearance necessary to make them look good. My trick: fluff up a scarf and put it in there! It's light weight, so it doesn't change the weight of your purse and you can put whatever else you'd like to on top of it. Ta da!

7. STRIPED BEADED EARRINGS
I bought these at American Beauty Supply in Irving, Texas.

That was fun, I hope you find it useful.

A LITTLE CHILLY.

It's a sunny day, but there's a moderate breeze going, making it a little chilly! No need to bundle up, but one could certainly do with SOME covering up. The solution, my 7 piece creation.

1. THE AFGHAN SCARF

2. LONG-SLEEVED BLACK TEE
This is an essential part of my wardrobe. It is such a simple and yet versatile piece. Useful for layering and some added warmth, as I've used it with this piece. Or alone, casually, dressed up, with the sleeves down, rolled up, scrunched up or folded. You'll see more of it in pieces to come. This particular one is by American Rag available online at www.amrag.com or at Macy's, but whatever brand you purchase is up to you.

3. RED CHINESE COLLAR STYLE WAIST-COAT

This is a new edition to my wardrobe.  It's by Talbots - www.talbots.com I actually found it at City Square Thrift Store - citysq.org/thriftstore (one of my favourite stores in Dallas, Texas: shopping for a cause) for US$2.00...what a bargain!!! Thrift stores are a wonderful resource to find awesome pieces of clothing and accessories, especially if you like a vintage style look and I do.

4. Blue Denim Jeggings

"Jeggings which are styled to look like tight denim jeans".  What a great creation!  The comfort that these provide is fantastic and like faux fur can provide the illusion of perfectly fitting denim jeans.  A great piece for chilly days!

5. RED HIGH HEELED PUMPS
These scream: red, siren HOT to me...I LOVE them!

6. SOUTH AFRICAN HANDCRAFTED EARRINGS
I bought these in Cape Town, South Africa from a street vendor.  They are amongst my most treasured accessories.  I LOVE handcrafted pieces and Africa, my personal favourite destination and my home is unlimited as a resource.

7. RED GENUINE LEATHER MESSENGER STYLE BAG
The tag inside this bag says Leather Force I found a website www.leatherforce.com however it did not have any bags listed under it's product tab.  Again, I purchased this from City Square Thrift Store - citysq.org/thriftstore for US$3.99 another great bargain!

So, that's my masterpiece for a day that's "A Little Chilly".

Here's the complete ensemble:

And here is what it looked like on me:

I had an absolute blast putting this outfit together, please feel free to post comments or questions.
